Assalaamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh,

Half Date is one of the top ranking successful organization in unifying the ummah through fund drives and awareness. As a member of half date, I have seen many dedicated Muslims, who through time and contributions, have yield positive outcomes. So for those of you who are pondering whether Half Date is worth your time, I just want to say HECK YA! Why not strengthen our ummah together?

“Save yourself from the (Hell) Fire even with half a date (to be given in charity). And if you do not find a half date, then with a good pleasant word.” - Collected by Al-Bukhari

May Allah bless the organizers, the volunteers and the members (including non-members who will become members inshaAllah) with continual dedication to serving Allah, and to be saved from the hellfire and to have a place in Paradise. Ameen.

Shout Out from Orange County, CA - USA!!

Yeah, with HalfDate, I can get to help many good causes without stretching myself, because it’s a collective effort, we all come together and chip in with half a date or a pleasant word.

May Allah bless this effort and protect us from the fire.

At first I was hesitant in going into a ‘dating’ web-site but then realized this web-site is talking about the dates the Prophet Muhammad Sallellahu ‘alaihi wa salem used to eat.

Its a great project and I hope and pray for its sucess.

Got three positive results so far, alhamdulillah, and one not so positive, but working on it. He said there is hardly any Muslims in his company, so I asked him to send it at least to those “hardly any” :)

Mashaa`Allaah, Half Date helped my friend Linda Delgado receive the much needed donations to design Teachers’ Study Guides for books she has published… which she does not profit from.

While many were skeptical that the goal could be reached, Half Date put in 500% effort to get donations rolling in. Allaah is truly Merciful, and we should be running to help organisations like Half Date stay on their feet. So what are YOU waiting for?

This is an excellent opportunity that Allah swt has opened for the Muslim Ummah..
Many A times we do local fund raising and at sometimes we are unable to reach the deadline..this is where we start sending emails to friends,groups..etc.and sometimes you take the entire burden(oppertunity) upon yourself.

When we all work together.and Allah swt has given a medium of Internet to work together..why should we not make use of this opportunity..

Everyone should fear the day when Allah swt will question us about not using this opportunity…

I would like to emphasise

” If we don’t help this Ummah ?? Do you expect Kaafirs to help this Ummah ??”

Lets all unite !

Asalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh,

Firstly, may Allah (SWT) reward all those who are working with this site. Al hamdu lillah, half date seems to me like a comprehensive medium to help promote sadaqa. You don’t expect youth to be at charity organisations or such! But they will be most welcome by this internet that Allah has provided us with. Subhan Allah you see such a misuse of the internet sometimes, Al hamdu lillah, halfdate is really using the internet the proper way- as we know everything is a test. Once again may Allah reward all here at halfdate and may Allah fulfill the purpose of such a beautiful site!

Yusuf Abdullah Said,
July 16th, 2008 @6:07 am

Salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatuh

Half date is the best approach to sadaqa because it tears down the barriers of geography and attmpts to help the ummah in a collective and comprehensive manner. I know that Allah has blessed us with instant communication (e.g., internet, phone, etc…) so that we may unite and work TOGETHER. Our beloved Prophet (SAW) taught us that we are in this together and if any part of this ummah hurts the whole of the ummah must come to the aid of that part.So lets join and give what little (or a lot) we may have and make a difference by the mercy of Allah.

Alhamdulilah for this opportunity. It goes against common sense to deny an opportunity to please your Lord, Creator, and Sustainer.

1)time (have u visited the sick, poor n elderly recently?), please spend time in the elderly folks house. they need companions.
2)knowledge (have u shared what u know with ur bros n siss recently?, do some da’wah to the dhimmi? make them think!)

Do you have a chartable corporation? Once things go big time you have to be ready.

I can see this being a success.

My suggestion for all members is to focus on one person to join the mailing list. A friend, family member etc. Explain the concept make sure he/she logs in and registers.

If every single person on the mailing list does this in 14 iterations we will reach 1.38 million. And if it goes another iteration then 2.7 million. At these numbers we can build a masjids, schools, make massive dawah donations. Allahu alim

HalfDate.com is great Concept, we as united Muslims should support each other, no matter what. that is unity, we should shrug away the Whispers from the Satan ,help each other, The Jews now this despite all there differences they were still able to make join and support each other to form a State, in a land that doesn´t want them. because they know strength is in groups. Even if this is a simple Concept (halfdate.com) we should still support it to encourage each other. and to help each other out to jointly make Healthy Muslim Society.

Hope this site can unite all the muslims in helping our less fortunate brothers and sisters all around the world. well, who else can help them if it is not us, fellow muslims? this is the least that we can do and I hope i can do more in future, insyaAllah =)

this is truly a compelling and exciting concept… such that i’d readily pay dues to be a member of. in my estimation, halfdate.com is the first internet-based service for muslims that holds, inshaa’Allaah, the blueprint for real success. to the founders and all it’s supporters, shukraan… and hold-fast to the rope.

I joined the mailing list because I know I can un-join at anytime, but more importantly, the simple message of collectively helping our community and easily sharing its burden reminds me of a hadith; Narrated Anas: The Prophet said, “Allah will say to that person of the (Hell) Fire who will receive the least punishment, ‘If you had everything on the earth, would you give it as a ransom to free yourself (i.e. save yourself from this Fire)?’ He will say, ‘Yes.’ Then Allah will say, ‘While you were in the backbone of Adam, I asked you much less than this….”

We are now invited to only take a small step, “halfdate” and so I say yes! May Allah bless you for providing this opportunity.

I suggest a recycling drive.

Goals can be:
1- Get 10 Masjids to participate
2- Conduct 3 online events about Islam and the environment
3- Make 10 vidoes on YouTube

Sounds good ha? :)

How about a care for cats drive? We can post videos or stories of cats. Maybe have a home video contest of cats and funny cat stories with a monetary prize. Rather than allowing the winner to keep the prize, s/he could choose which Islamic charity the money goes to. People can donate to the prize money. It’ll be fun inshaAllah. Just a suggestion…

Assalam alaikum.

HalfDate.com is one of the best ideas I have seen in a long time.

It would be a shame to cancel next month’s drive simply because you didn’t reach a goal of 20,000 subscribers.

In doing that, you’d be needlessly pessimistic and overlooking the actual achievement - you did achieve a subscriber count of nearly 1000. That’s a thousand people who know about you, support you, pray for you and will inshaAllah pray with you. A thousand is a better number than a handful, isn’t it?

Hopefully, in the future, more people will become aware of it inshaAllah.

But for now, I’d urge to you carry on the good work and not cancel the next month’s drive.

Jazakumullah.

I like the concept of halfdate however they havent posted any organizations that they are giving to. Also I like to see where my money is going anyone can give a convincing speech but some charity organizations are dishonest and they put all or some of the money in their pockets. So I think that showing proof of where the money is being sent to is important.

Is there any plan to put the site into different languages? I only speak English but if a language switch were offered in Arabic, French, German and Spanish we might get more participants. I’m sure it’s a huge effort but a suggestion. Do any of the members have the abilities in these languages to offer translation of the site? I know people can use google.translate but it’s not very good with Arabic.

May Allah reward you well for these efforts and all your good deeds. ameen

As salaamu alaykum wa rahmatullah wa barakatu

I’m originally from Baltimore, MD now residing in Queens, NY. I happened upon this site from IslamicTube. Alhamdulillah. Think it’s great what you want to do. You substantiate what I’ve thought for awhile, all the Muslims that there are, we can make a contribution in many ways by just giving a $1.

Right now this is a project I’m interested in and have received little feedback:
I’d like to know how we can go about writing in our own candidates for Pres and VP instead of voting for those others select for us.
Siraj for Pres and Hamza for VP or vice versa. If ALL the Muslims voted together even if they didn’t win, the ‘United States’ would know that we are United Muslims.

Just a $1 can give funds to support a campaign.
Just a $1 can provide scholarships.
Just a $1 can provide Hajj money, feed the poor, pay rent, buy a house, renovate a building, start a medical center/hospital, etc, etc, etc.

Just a suggestion: Please don’t post who contributes. That’s between them and Allah and only Allah, the Most Merciful, the All-Encompassing, knows the reason why they contributed.

May Allah, the Most Forgiving , the Most Merciful, grant us forgiveness for our shortcomings and protect us from His punishment.

Our Lord, we have wronged ourselves. If You forgive us not and have mercy on us, we would certainly be the losers.
