2. Does Halfdate wish to raise $10,000 as a reserve fund & then donate from it to the various causes that come up in the future?
3. Does Halfdate want to raise specific amount ($10,000) for a specific determined cause?
4. Do the cases ’605′, ’611′ & ’616′ referred above, fall under the “many smaller” or the “big” requests category?
5. Voting in this poll would be easier if the ‘big’ & ‘mini’ causes are sketched-out briefly. This way the voter would form a more informed opinion.

Alhamdulillah, Al Maun Fund is an organization worth supporting. They truly use the funds to help support members of the community. I know of sisters who have contacted them for assistance, resources, miscellaneous items, and were very pleased with the experience. I have personally benefitted from the generosity of Al Maun Fund and their financial contributors. Not only did they maintain confidentiality when handling my case, they also responded in an expeditious manner. I called them on a Wednesday afternoon, received a call back Wednesday evening, and had a payment made on m behalf by Friday of that same week…TWO DAYS later. I was extremely impressed by the level of professionalism of the volunteers! It is often extremely difficult to ask for assistance when it is really needed, but the volunteers at Al Maun Fund make it easy and comfortable. Al Maun Fund is a class A organization.

I am Hadayai’s husband Abdullah. I have served at times as security at the shelter. I am also on the Advisory Board of the organization. I have seen most of the women and children who have been through the doors of the shelter program. I have been with my wife when she goes to local masjid/Islamic centers, grocery stores,the bus station, train station and other public places at 11 pm-2 am in the morning meeting sisters and their children who have the clothes on their backs, bruised (where I can see), scared. The children trembling. I have fussed at her for dragging me out of bed to go with her.

I have also seen how many of our leaders do not want to face this issue and have allowed some things to be done to her and the group that was not fair or just. Since it is Ramadan I will not go into any further detail. We need more Baitul Salaam type services all over the US. We have a huge problem with sisters and children not being treated fairly and justly in their homes. We have a huge problem with some people not knowing how to be good Muslims (men and women) in relationships. If you need to verify this call me at (404) 932-8339.

I have been a supporter of the The Baitul Salaam Network, Inc. for several years. Over the years, I have meet women who have benefited from being able to be in an Islamic setting for their healing. They offer a food pantry, lend small appliances for emergency needs, and have monthly open houses to distribute clothing free of charge. They offer other emergency resources and referalls also.

I can attest to the compassion,concern and islamic adhab shown by the staff there also, masha’allah they work very hard. Getting this building was truly a ni’mah from Allaah, they will be able to serve the ummah in an even more efficient way insha’allah t’ala.

It is narrated on the authority of Abdullah ibn Umar, The Messenger of Allah said ” Oh, womanfolk, You should give charity and ask for much forgiveness for I saw a bulk of you amongst the dwellers of the fire… -Muslim
This is just a reminder for us all to continue to give sadaqa and seeking tawbah, not just during this month but until death approach us, for indeed death is near us all. Donating to Babun Nasr and other organizations is one of the most benitficail way one can give Sadaqa. Money, food, clothing, household items etc, are always being accepted there to help many families in need. May Allah reward them greatly for their unconditional effort in supporting our community,ameen.

Insha Allah we can all give something even if we are the one also in need. Here is an example how we can all help this Ramadhan: Have a Iftar and ask your guests to bring a non perishable food item. You and your guests can participate together in donating a food basket to a Muslim food bank or family. You the host will get the barakat for feeding the fasting and donating and your guests will also get barakat for donating and Insha Allah supplicating for the host!

The Prophet (peace be upon him) had said, “Give Sadaqah (Charity) without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity.” (Tirmidhi #1887)

It has also been narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Every Muslim has to give Sadaqah (charity).” The people asked, “O Allah’s Prophet, if someone has nothing to give, what should he do?” He said, “He should work with his hands and benefit himself and also give in charity (from what he earns).” The people further asked, “If he cannot find even that?” He replied, “He should help the needy who appeal for help.” Then the people asked, “If he cannot do that?” He replied, “Then he should perform good deeds and keep away from evil deeds and this will be regarded as charitable deeds.” (Bukhari #2.524)
