Drive Deadline: Dec 22, 2009

Drive Target:

  • Printing 1000 Dawah DVDs
  • Giving DVDs to speakers who tour for sale, (financial help for them).
  • Giving DVDs for distribution for Islamic Awareness Weeks.

Matching Challenges:
If we reach 150 contributors or $1,500 by Friday 12/18/09, one sister will give an additional $100 and one brother will give $400, inshaAllah. (we failed Friday 12/11/09 challenge).

  • $3000 for printing 1000 DVDs

    Thank you for asking, please provide your email for replies.

    Maybe you are new to HalfDate, but a few months back we have posted that HalfDate can no longer sustain itself. So to keep it running, we have adopted a “pay it forward” method. The beneficiary of the current drive pays the expenses of next drive and so on.

    HalfDate is in red now, we don’t ask for donations, we just want volunteers to promote (that’s the most time consuming task and the biggest expense). On average, each dateDrive takes over one hundred hours from pre-drive to post drive.

    Here is a rough itemized cost to run a drive:
    Mailing list software: covered by HalfDate
    Hosting: covered by HalfDate
    Domain names: covered by HalfDate
    Facebook ads: $90/month
    Graphics work: $50/month
    Editor: $50/month
    Copywriter: $50/month
    Outsourced promotion: $200/month (paid to needy students or families)

    Phone bills: covered by HalfDate

Videos are one of the most influencial means of Da’wah and indeed a great blessing, so many people learn about and accept Islam through watching these videos.
