In the name of Allah, compassionate & merciful بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحْمنِ الرَّحِيمِ
Peace be with you السلام عليك

Cause: Baitul Salaam Inc recycling program
Objective: Collect and ship stated items.

Summary: Baitul Salaam Inc. is one of the hardest working Muslim owned and operated non profits out there (mashaAllah). Consistently coming up with innovative ways to keep their shelter, services and programs open for the community. We were once again contacted by Hadayai Majeed to inform of us that there are other ways we can support Baitul Salaam. Recycling!

Allah’s Messenger (peace and prayers be upon him) said: “Removing a litter from the road is charity.” -Sahih AlJamea

THIS IS HOW YOU CAN HELP

If you have any of the following things in your house or your place of work, collect them and ship ’em to Baitul Salaam.

  • Lay’s, Frito Lay’s potato chip bags any size
  • Oreo Cookie wrappers, MARS (or new name of company) candy wrappers any size,
  • Juice pouches any brand (no straws and completely empty)

Once you have a sizable amount put the items in a bag, then a light weight box (or else it will be thrown out by the post office) and address the box to:

Baitul Salaam Network, Inc.,
675 Village Square Dr.,
Stone Mountain, GA 30083
Attn: Recycling

If you have questions call 770-255-8500. Please do not ship any thing else, insh’Allah. Please send by April 1, 2011, insh’Allah.

Isn’t that awesome? you save the environment, encourage recycling AND support a non profit.  Allahu Akbar! If you wan to donate directly to Baitul Salaam click HERE

send them junk food wrappers? I dont understand, can you explain how this will help them?

    As Salaamu Alaikum,

Brother Abdullah we recycle and get paid. The junk you mentioned causes huge problems when thrown in the trash. We ge paid to turn these items in. They get used to make items like pencil holders, flower pots, etc. Please read the list and tell your friends.

Yes, it would help if you posted in the main info how sending in junk food wrappers helps with your recycling. We don’t eat those types of things, but I like the recycling for nonprofit gain idea! :-)

I absolutely fail to understand. We can always recycle locally. Engaging the post office, is causing more environment issues.

    As Salaamu Alaikum,

For all who do not understand all I have to say is think about it if we have less trash on the streets, etc. less to pick up, etc. To those who raise the point about recycling locally you have a point. Do so and think about us at Eid Al Fitr time with a donation.

Alaikom salam.Dearest Brothers and Sisters. Ok, we eat 1-2 bags a week, (4 teenagers), BUT, it says that we MUST send-in BY 4/1/11. ****I got the yahoo email today 4/2/11. Is this something that will be ongoing?

      wa alaaykum as salaam!

I believe sis Hadayai has this program ongoing as a form of recurring income. If you still have it you can keep sending it to her. :) wa salaam!

    Trying to answer questions.

    1. If you don’t eat potato chips well just ask your neighbors who do to recycle and give them our information. Go to http://www.baitulsalaam.net for our addresses, etc. Send them to us via email to haleem1@aol.com.

    2. We recycle all the time. So you can send items monthly, quarterly or annually. Host a recycle drive. We also take old cell phones, ink cartridges, broken gold, platinum and silver jewelry.

    3. Recycle aluminum cans at home and turn the money into us, insh’Allah.

I hope this answers your questions.

    Thanks for the support.
